MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Dickinson Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association is to provide a means whereby graduates of the Dickinson Citizens’ Police Academy can support the Dickinson Police Department in obtaining ancillary equipment and give other assistance through appropriate fundraising projects within the community, and to enhance relations between the Dickinson Police Department and the citizens of Dickinson.

THE DREAM

Chief of Police Ron Morales, began the Citizens’ Police Academy as a source to promote community policing, awareness and a bridge between delivery of law enforcement services and the community's perception of those services. His initial vision did not include the overwhelming response his 'dream' has received from the community. "The DCPAAA has become the most positive influence on the police department, my officers and the entire community. Their overwhelming support of our department is phenomenal and provides another source to assist us in providing the best services to our community."

THE GOAL

The goal of the DCPAAA is to support the Dickinson Police Department and enhance their programs to create mutual trust between the police officers and the community. This is accomplished through financial means, encouragement and innovative programs initiated through the DCPAAA organization.

HISTORY

The Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) was established in 1999 to promote a better understanding of the Dickinson Police Department, its policies and its procedures. After graduation, CPA members formed the Dickinson Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association (DCPAAA) to stay informed and involved. DCPAAA members participate in numerous events throughout the year, along with several fundraising efforts to provide needed equipment for the police department and scholarships for graduating seniors of accredited high schools in Dickinson.

Since the inception of our organization, our members have continued to "shine" throughout the community and the state.
